What you should look for when choosing a Music Teacher in Aberdeen? Music lessons at their best!

Updated: 2 days ago

There are more and more music teachers now available for lessons in the UK in general.   This is due to the want of many to work for themselves and the allure of success that comes with running a successful business.

There are lots to consider when choosing a music teacher and below I’ve detailed some of the main points to help you make an informative decision.

1.       Professional Outfit

When looking for a music teacher or more specifically a guitar teacher in Aberdeen you should always look to see where they are teaching from.  There is nothing wrong with wanting to make sure that the place you’re going to is a safe, well presented and accommodating place for you or your child.  There are many who teach from home (including me) and that’s OK as long as the space they use is dedicated to their craft, free from distraction and fit for purpose.  The fancier the place doesn’t necessarily mean a higher level of service. A music teacher who takes pride in their own appearance and the appearance of their teaching space is definitely worth checking out though over the opposite.

2.       Reviews, Reviews, Reviews

With the power and presence of the internet it has become easier than ever to check out what others are saying before committing yourself to a teacher.  Google, Facebook and Yell are all great places to check out what others think of the music teacher you’re considering.  It is very difficult to fake reviews with Google’s algorithms so you can usually take what is written as fact.

3.       USP (Unique Selling Point)

At Fresh Music Aberdeen one of the unique selling points is the fact that students get to learn using interactive resources and record professionally all within their lesson times. They get to do all of that in a custom built, professional studio where their creativity can go wild.

4.       Price

When looking for guitar lessons, piano lessons, drum lessons, bass lessons etc. it is worth checking out what each teacher charges.  Remember cheaper rarely means better.  We live in a world now where most value themselves on their experience, USP’s and knowledge.  If someone is charging £5 – £10 for an hour’s lesson, then I’d be wary.  They’re probably in it for quick cash and they probably don’t have the experience to help you learn quickly and efficiently.  The going rates as of 2024 are between £15 - £30 per half hour and £40 - £60 per 45 or 60 minutes.  I personally don’t do one hour lessons as it is much more efficient to give students less to learn but more quickly within 30 – 45 minute lessons then it is to provide one hour lessons and overload them with stuff.

If you follow these 4 points you should end up with a fairly qualified, competent and experienced tutor.  My advice is to go for a tutor that has good reviews, online pictures of their teaching practice and is priced accordingly.  You won’t be disappointed.  Fresh Music Aberdeen offer guitar lessons in Aberdeen and provide the highest quality lessons.  Check out www.freshmusicaberdeen.co.uk for more!
