FAQs
1. Do you provide an instrument for me to use?
A guitar can be borrowed, if required, during lesson times (limited to right handed guitarists). It is, however, much better to get your own guitar for practice at home and Fresh Music Aberdeen can provide advice on what to buy.
2. Can I order a guitar and have it delivered to you at Fresh Music Aberdeen?
No. We are not insured for students’ guitars. They are the responsibility of the student without exception.
3. Can I have my friend/ younger or older sibling sit in on my lesson?
Only parents/ guardians are welcome to sit in on lessons.
4. Do I need to bring my amp and cables to every lesson?
Fresh Music will provide amps, cables, pedals, etc. It is the responsibility of the student to bring picks, a capo (if required) and their guitar.
5. If I’m running late will I still get my full allocated time?
No. Due to the demand for lessons with Fresh Music Aberdeen it is not possible to extend lesson times.
6. Can I have an online lesson instead of a face-to-face lesson?
Online lessons are only provided to students who, under extreme circumstances, cannot attend their lesson. Online lessons will only be provided with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice and at the discretion of the teacher. Fresh Music reserves the right to reject any request for online lessons, in particular when:
1. A student is working towards a graded exam.
2. It is deemed avoidable (online is rarely as productive as in person).
3. 24 hours’ notice has not been provided by the student.
7. Can I reschedule my lesson if I can’t make it?
It is important to remember that you are paying for a time slot. If you cannot make that week’s lesson, it is important to let Connor know as soon as possible. If there is a free slot (due to a cancellation, for example) available at another time that week, it may be possible for you to take that available slot, but this cannot be guaranteed. Please note that lessons cannot be carried over to future weeks as it makes for an unmanageable schedule.
8. Do you provide free parking?
Free, on-street parking is available close to the studio. You will be advised of where to park in your welcome letter. Please adhere to the parking suggestions as it makes for a happier neighbourhood when congestion is kept to a minimum.
9. Do you offer a repair service?
Restringing, minor electrical repairs and guitar adjustments are included as part of the service offered by Fresh Music Aberdeen. Each student is responsible for the purchase of strings/ parts, etc. Advice can be given on what to buy when required.
10. Do you provide group lessons?
No. All students learn at a different pace. To get maximum value from your lessons it is important that lessons are conducted on a 1:1 basis only.
11. Can I prepare for Music Grades with Fresh?
Yes. Preparation for Rockschool and Trinity College exams is offered during your lessons, should you wish.
12. Can I have lessons every two weeks, rather than once a week?
No. It's important that lessons are conducted on a weekly basis to encourage consistency. Exceptions are made, however, for those who work away/ offshore.
13. Can I record during my lesson?
Yes. Whether you are playing a cover song or writing your own music, you are welcome to record what you’re doing. Many students also choose to record vocals, although this is not a requirement.
