Over the years Connor (teacher) has worked hard to create an environment that students feel relaxed and at home in.
Through relationship building Fresh Music Aberdeen has been able to offer a safe space for those who need a little time out from life during a guitar lesson. Music is such a great escape from the daily grind and pressures that sometimes cause use to feel frazzled. At Fresh Music Aberdeen you are given the opportunity to take a load off and learn some great tunes!
Part of the experience is being able to talk about life, its hardships and its highs, its struggles and its joys. There is usually space for a lot of laughter and joke telling. There is also space for open and honest conversations about everyday life.
“One of the most enjoyable parts of the job is talking to people.” Connor (teacher)
“Understanding that people have so much going on has allowed me to build good relationships with students whilst maintaining professional boundaries. I was once described as the best friend someone has ever had to pay for! I take that as a huge compliment and I appreciate that every student that walks in the door has their own story to tell. Guitar lessons are just as much about the relationship as it is about the guitar playing. In fact, I think that if you get to know someone well and you have a mutual respect for one another then the guitar lessons can be even more productive. Building a community of like-minded, keen to learn individuals who feel respected, safe and confident in their abilities is the dynamic I’ve always wanted for Fresh Music Aberdeen.”
