As a professional musician I often get asked what it's like to do music as a job full-time.
People often see the upsides before the downsides. I thought I'd give an honest overview of what it's like for me personally.
Running a Music School in the Granite City is a lot of fun. There are always new people to meet with interesting back stories and a real love for music. Those who come to have music lessons here get the opportunity to learn the songs they want to play as well as record professionally if they wish to do so. That means that my job on the daily is to ensure all the equipment is working and ready for those who want to lay down a track. I also write the latest songs (in music we call this transcribing). I will transcribe tracks for guitar, bass, drums and ukulele. For those who do guitar lessons with Fresh Music they will often receive the chords, rhythms, solos and music notation to match in an interactive, easy to follow video.
It's much the same for those receiving bass lessons, ukulele lessons or drum lessons although for those doing drums the music is written in drum notation and then presented through an interactive, easy to follow video.
